The American Heart Association is proud to announce Dr. Miriam L. Cohen as the inaugural recipient of the Heart of Maryland Award.
Dr. Miriam L. Cohen, a distinguished former cardiologist at MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, has been a trailblazer in the field of cardiology for more than 60 years. As the first trained female cardiologist in Maryland and one of the first five in the United States, Dr. Cohen has made significant contributions to cardiovascular medicine, including pioneering research on anti-arrhythmic drugs, beta blockers, and pacemakers. Her dedication to patient care and mentorship has left an indelible mark on the medical community.
This prestigious award will be presented at the Heart of Maryland-Night of Impact event on Thursday, April 3, at the M&T Bank Exchange in Baltimore.
