“If you haven't got any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble.” Bob Hope
At the American Heart Association, we are blessed to have volunteers with big hearts full of charity for our mission. Without you, our volunteers, the opportunity to improve the cardiovascular health of our community could not happen. We are so grateful for the support we have from you.
In 2014, one of our long time volunteers, Lesia Bell, left us. After years of battling heart disease, she was diagnosed with cancer – and after a short fight, with her body and immune system weakened – she passed away. From modeling in our annual Go Red Fashion Show, to working a tent at the Heart Walk to calling donors to thank them for their gifts, Lesia was passionate about the work that the American Heart Association did. Her love of life was insatiable and she was the type of person who leaves an imprint on your heart forever.
